I marvel at the entrepreneurial spirit of Utahns and the great success
stories that are so prevalent throughout our state.
Woodcraft Mill & Cabinet in Salt Lake City is a great company
with a great success story, but it had very humble beginnings. Since
starting their official operation in a four-car garage in West Jordan,
brothers Dave and Jason Hall have relocated three times. Each time
they move, they double or triple the size of the previous space
because the work in progress fills their shop space to more than
capacity.
Dave and Jason credit their success and growth to a constant dedication
to customer satisfaction on every job. Other than occasional trade
shows, Woodcraft does not advertise. The business has grown almost
exclusively through word-of-mouth referrals. The brothers believe
that spending the necessary time and asking the right questions
will ensure a smooth process. They want to deliver exactly what
customers expect to receive.
Two years ago, another brother, Matthew, joined Dave and Jason.
Matthew brings needed technical experience to the company and its
effort to streamline the process as it converts computer generated
plans into instructions for the high-tech machinery that runs the
plant.
True to the Woodcraft pattern, a referral in the Atherton, Calif.
area led to a successful market in the Bay Area that has since flourished.
The high quality and constant innovation has now attracted the attention
of high-end clients in other parts, and the company currently ships
cabinets to Santa Barbara; Vail, Colo.; Idaho and Nevada. The brothers
intend to maintain constant growth by distributing both in town
and out of town.
The work they produce is spectacular, and their customers love
the hands-on experience. I just loved my visit with the Hall boys
at Woodcraft Mill & Cabinet.
For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
